The gallery
Galerie van den Boom was opened in October 2021 at Packhofstraße 4 in Brandenburg an der Havel. There, a first place was created for the presentation of selected works of art and for the personal encounter with art.
With the move to Hauptstraße 68, the concept of the gallery was further developed. At the new location in the center of the city, it sees itself today not only as an exhibition venue, but also as an open space for art and culture.
In the gallery rooms, contemporary art, photography, installations and selected works of different generations are presented.

Our understanding of art
We do not see art as a closed area for an already informed audience. No one needs to understand a work ‘rightly’ or have prior knowledge of art history. A personal perception, a question or even a contradiction can be the beginning of a valuable encounter.
The gallery wants to break down thresholds and invite people to discover art in their own way. It can bring joy, irritate, awaken memories and make social issues visible.

A Room for Encounter
Exhibitions are not alone. Conversations, music, performances and open event formats continue the respective topics. At Open Friday, the gallery can also be visited without a vernissage or fixed program: to look, to linger and to exchange with other people.
The programmatic orientation combines successive exhibitions and events. Topics are not concluded with the end of an exhibition, but further thought from other perspectives.
Hagen van den Boom
The gallery is led by Hagen van den Boom. As a gallerist and curator, he develops exhibitions, brings artists together and creates connections between art, culture and social issues.
The focus is on the desire to make art accessible and to create a place where different experiences and perspectives can coexist.
