Art wants to be among the people
Wilfried Schwarz celebrates his 85th birthday this year. Birthday. In his honor, Galerie van den Boom shows a cross-section of his work. At the beginning is the drawing. Here, the fineliner is currently his favorite tool – ‘You can't straighten him’. Figures in motion, silent portraits or nudes show Wilfried Schwarz’s mastery. In the paint he is not fixed, whether oil or acrylic, he paints what comes before the brushes, and that from all over the world. A great passion is traveling. “I was lucky enough to visit Syria before the destruction”. Here he paints group pictures in a high-contrast composition. Its landscapes are southern France, Tuscany, canyons, Cappadocia ... and again and again Brandenburg. It makes the cathedral shine from different perspectives and the Havel.
Landscapes, portraits, group pictures, unusual shop window views, close or far away, this exhibition would have had many motifs of the arrangement.
Wilfried Schwarz is not fixed in what he paints. Probably as he paints it. This shows his ability to approach each motif and translate it into a painting.
